B+E Training (Car and Trailer)

Aims & Objectives

To ensure that candidates receive the highest standard of training prior to the D.S.A Examination. By following the D.S.A training guidelines our instructors ensure the candidate receives the necessary training to help them to reach test standard

Who is the course suitable for?

Car licences obtained on or after 1 January 1997

If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you're limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes maximum authorised mass towing a trailer up to 750kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. You will need to pass an additional driving test in B+E if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.

In Car Course Content: The Training encompasses the following, although the amount of coverage will depend on the individuals driving ability.

  • Daily Vehicle Checks
  • Familiarisation Drive
  • Basic Manoeuvring
  • Roundabout Procedures
  • Lane Procedures
  • Reversing Exercise & Controlled Stop
  • Tell Me Show Me (Questions)
  • Move Off Uphill
  • Move Off Downhill
  • Correct Use of Indicators
  • Move off at an Angle
  • Coupling and uncoupling procedure
  • Mock D.S.A Test

Course Duration

12 hours (depending on candidates driving ability/previous experience)

The training cumulates in the DSA practical test at an approved testing facility.
